My Favorite Photos of 2022

Looking back is always an essential aspect of growth. It does not matter much what tasks or endeavors are planned. Maybe personal goals were mapped and targets planned. Nevertheless, it’s only natural at some point to stop and look back and assess one’s achievements and shortcomings. Turning the page on a new year lends itself to that reflection.

Photographers of all levels aspire for the same thing - meaningful advancement. Achieving a better understanding of their craft and did all the effort bear results? There is no more subjective a topic than measuring the value of a creative endeavor. External sources such as professional recognition and financial success are often disregarded, and only reading one’s inner judgment reassures success. Most photographers are their own harshest critics, and they need to be. True advancement demands honest and meaningful feedback, and who better to administer that medicine than yourself?

With this in mind, I look back and try to pick my ten best photos of 2022. My travels in 2022 took me to Europe, the American Southwest, Appaleiacha, and lots of New England. All those locations offered many beautiful scenes, and it was my goal to capture some of the beauty I saw in front of me in photos so that others might feel the same reaction. I issue the same disclaimer with this annual post. These are my ten favorites; I am not proclaiming these as great or even good photos - hopefully, a few are, but these are my favorites. They are favorites for many reasons. The most common is the memory of being there, the quietness of nature, the weather, the discomfort of the conditions, the beauty unfolding in front of me, etc.

With all that said, and in no particular order, here are my ten favorites
