This week finds me and my cameras still roaming up and down the southern Maine coast line.  My goals remain the same look for interesting coastal scenes that bring together the simple elements of lines, light and moment.  I find that those three elements when found together (or brought together) will always yield a pleasing image. For the last 18 years the first week and a half of July finds me in Kennebunkport, Maine.  The trip is equal parts family vacation and photography excursion.  The photography portion of the trip requires 4 AM wake up times.  This allows me to arrive at my destination prior to  sunrise.  My list of destinations is extensive Lighthouses, beaches, fishing harbors, and lobster boats.  With any luck I will get the famous mixed bag of Maine summer weather.   Pre-dawn weather in Maine can be tricky, it can be chilly, cloudy, foggy and then 15 minutes later hot and muggy with bright sunshine.  Early July...

This week's photo excursion was a sunset bike ride through one of my local State Parks' - Caumsett State Park.  Caumsett is well represented on the pages of this site as it is one of my favorite local places to shoot in all seasons.  This park offers lots of beach access to the Long Island Sound at sunset.  Like the rest of Long Island's North Shore it is a rocky coastline, perfect for foreground subjects.  All the elements are present for good composition - a westward facing sky for sunset, a large body of water, lots of foreground subjects.  If I don't get something good...
