Holiday week and the second to last week of the year. The holidays are spent at home on Long Island, so this weeks photo is from home. I quick early winter morning trip to Northport village. The village is just five minutes from my home and offers both seascapes and landscape opportunities side by side. This morning also happens to be a snowy one, more accurately a snowy night before. The goal was to photograph a snowy downtown village at first light.
This week finds me back home on Long Island enjoying some winter weather of our own. A mid-December snowstorm has blanketed the area, creating some nice winter photography opportunities. When snowstorms hit the island I like to head for the beaches. The coupling of the coastal beach, traditionally associated with summer and the snowy landscape make for a lovely contradiction that do compliment each other. Unlike previous weeks this winter we were treating to a week of traditional winter weather on Long Island. Mid-week featured a blizzard and 15 inches of heavy snow. I decided one evening to take my Fujifilm X100t rangefinder camera to a local beach. My goal was to find a combination of snow, sand, ocean, fences, ice, leading lines all basking in afternoon light.
