Back home on Long Island and another trip to one of our local harbors along the north shore facing the Long Island Sound. This time it is Oyster Bay in Nassau County. The Hamlet of Oyster Bay sits on the north shore looking straight across the Long Island Sound towards Greenwich Connecticut. It has been home to sailors since the 1600’s and continues to host one of the east coast largest water festivals – The Oysterfest. There are lots of photo reasons to visit Oyster Bay. It’s northwest facing harbor allows for good sunset photos. There are numerous sailing vessels and commercial fishing boats for ample foreground subjects. There are also several large floating mooring docks that lots of locals like to use for fishing. The fishing docks are always my favorites and what I selected for this week’s photo.
