Ireland August 21st – Ashford Castle

Posted by

Today was our second and final day at Ashford Castle in Cong, Ireland  The day provided the best weather  yet – a real summer day with lots of sunshine and warm weather.  There were a few sprinkles as predicted but they were few and far between.  The day started with a boat cruise on Lough Corrib to view the Connemara Mountains and also  a full view of the castle from the water.  In the afternoon we set off for a car drive in the Irish countryside to visit the towns of Neale and Ballinrobe.  Ballinrobe was home to our dinner stop, a restaurant named “Carneys”.  The car ride there and back afford us the opportunity t0 view Irish sheep farms, local Abby’s and lots of open fields.

Tomorrow we hit the road to see the “Irish Armstrong’s” and then onto Donegal for the next two nights.
